A prominent Connecticut attorney arrested after he brought a handgun to a movie theater showing the Batman film ‘‘The Dark Knight Rises’’ said Wednesday that the charges are baseless and that he followed all police directions.
Sung-Ho Hwang, president-elect of the New Haven County Bar Association, was charged with breach of peace and interfering with police after officers said they found a loaded handgun in his waistband. Police say he had a permit to carry the weapon but didn’t comply with their commands.

| He got off lightly, I wonder if because he is an attorney. Death is frequently the penalty for a citizen's failure to comply. |

If the police can and will lie to me with impunity, how am I to tell if a cop's order is legal? If it is something with which I must comply? If I am acting legally, if the order seems to make no real sense, if I presume that I am a person at liberty and not a serf in a police state then isn't non-compliance the only correct course of action? What makes it right that some random government employee can give _me_, a normal human being, orders? What is the legal extent of those orders?
Laws that make things easier for the police 1) probably authorize behaviour which is recognized to be illegal; 2) only serve to increase the police state, don't we think police states are bad? |

| We and our parents and their parents have allowed the country to become what it is. We can either accept it and assume all government orders are lawful or we can fight in support of the Constitution of the United States. The choice is ours! |
