"Recent events of this summer have brought the gun issue to the attention of many Americans. Multiple mass shootings over the last two months have caused people to reexamine their views on gun control. This has always been a divisive issue and the recent horrific events will do nothing to assuage the intense emotional response that accompanies this debate for a great number of people."

"Since the ratification of the second amendment, we have seen an evolvement in what it means to bear arms. The technology of firearms has grown at an exponential rate, and the types of weapons readily available to the public are capable of inflicting extreme damage, quickly, to large amounts of people." ...

The fact that every one of the mass shootings has been in a "gun free zone," where the victims couldn't defend themselves, shows that gun restrictions are the problem, not the solution.

What it means to bear arms has not evolved. It hasn't even changed.

The technology of firearms has hardly grown at all, let alone at an exponential rate. *POINT* *LAUGH*

the second amendment is there to keep out government in check it isto keep american citizens arms so the government will not try to ove take the people like hitler and others did before WWI startednd

and again just before WWII started

the reason why these people "just walked in and took over " was because the people were disarmed and had no way to fight back

WE DONT HAVE A LACK OF GUN CONTROL PROBLEM WE HAVE A LACK OF CRIMINAL CONTROL!

when will liberals like this write learn that criminals do not know how to read gun laws or any other laws for that matter thats why we call um criminals

then he says this:(We are no longer under an immediate threat to be invaded by an enemy (unless North Korea suddenly develops sailing technology), but the amendment still stands because it is important for people to have the right to weapons if they feel they need them in their home for their protection.)

we dont have to worry about any nation trying to invade our country

No man has a natural right to commit aggression on the equal rights of another, and this is all from which the laws ought to restrain him. — Thomas Jefferson
